It is important to know that the control does not run smoothly in every device combination. The following points explain most cases.   <\/p>\n\n      <h3>The most common causes<\/h3>\n      <p>The first look should be at the devices connected with HDMI cables. Not every intermediate device, switch, or active cable reliably passes on CEC commands. Furthermore, depending on the TV, the function can be deactivated separately for individual inputs or device links.  <\/p>\n      <p>The second look should be at the device control. This must be active on both devices. After a reset or an update, it is often switched off again without being noticed.  <\/p>\n<p>Finally, it is worth taking a look at splitters and adapters that sit between the devices. They interrupt the control more often than one might assume. <\/p>\n\n      <h3>Why the implementation varies so much<\/h3>\n      <p>The core of the problem lies in the standard itself. Which commands a device supports is largely left to the manufacturers. There is no binding test for this in all areas. Accordingly, each device interprets the specifications slightly differently. Devices of one brand therefore usually work together smoothly, while mixed setups more often lead to dropouts.    <\/p>\n      <p>Reliability is being worked on. Newer implementations such as HDMI-CEC 2.0 are intended to improve cooperation between devices, for example, when forwarding remote control commands. <\/p>\n\n      <h3>When multiple devices get in each other&#8217;s way<\/h3>\n      <p>As the number of devices increases, so does the potential for conflict. If a game console, streaming box, and receiver are connected to the TV at the same time, it can happen that a device &#8220;wakes up&#8221; from sleep mode and takes over the picture source, even though something else is currently running. The reverse pattern also occurs.
