A neck speaker does it differently. It rests on the shoulders like an open collar. Neck speakers and neckband speakers describe the design most accurately. Colloquially, they are sometimes referred to as neck headphones, even though the ear remains free with this design.  <\/p>\n\n      <h3>The Over-the-Shoulder Design<\/h3>\n      <p>A neck speaker consists of a curved band that rests against the back of the neck and sits on the collarbone at the front. Small speakers are located in the two front ends, radiating upward. The distance to the ear is thus only a few centimeters.  <\/p>\n      <p>The device is worn like an open collar. It touches neither the head nor the ears. The weight rests solely on the shoulders. Both seal off to a greater or lesser extent, thereby shielding ambient noise. However, both also exert pressure, which can become uncomfortable after a long period. Furthermore, it can sometimes become very warm under the pads.   <\/p>\n      <p>The neck speaker has neither of these characteristics. There are no pressure points on the temples or ears, which makes a difference especially for glasses wearers because the frames of the glasses are not pinched. In return, the shielding is lost. Those sitting further away need more volume. Everyone in the room hears the same level. The neck speaker shortens the distance to a few centimeters. These characteristics are directly related to the open design and cannot be viewed separately from one another. Each brings an advantage and a downside.  <\/p>\n\n      <h3>Wearing Comfort and Weight<\/h3>\n      <p>Because the device sits on the shoulders, its weight is more noticeable than with headphones, where the weight is distributed over the head. Lightweight models are in the range of 100 or 200 grams, while heavy ones can be significantly higher. These become clearly noticeable after a long evening of watching TV. The most important feature besides weight: a flexible band that adapts to different neck shapes is more important than any other equipment feature.   <\/p>\n\n      <h3>Sound and Bass<\/h3>\n      <p>The small housings impose physical limits on the low frequencies. Depending on the model, low frequencies may also be perceptible as a slight vibration on the shoulders because the housing rests directly on them. For speech, this effect is less decisive than the proximity to the ear, which increases the proportion of direct sound.  <\/p>\n\n      <h3>Listening Along or Not<\/h3>\n      <p>This is the most honest limitation and it must be clearly stated. Because nothing is sealed, part of the sound escapes into the room. Anyone else in the room will partially hear along without understanding anything. For watching TV together, the neck speaker is not the best choice. The connection to the TV is straightforward. <\/p>\n\n      <h3>Connection to the Television<\/h3>\n      <p>Some models pair directly with the TV via Bluetooth, provided the function is available in the TV set. Other models have a base station that is connected to the optical output or the headphone jack and transmits the sound via radio frequency. <\/p>\n      <p>In both cases, the delay between picture and sound must be considered. Via Bluetooth, depending on the TV, transmitter, and codec, a visible offset to the lip movements can occur. Low-latency transmissions or radio links via a dedicated base station are therefore often advantageous when watching TV.  <\/p>\n\n      <h3>Neck Speakers in the Living Room<\/h3>\n      <p>A neck speaker can be useful if headphones start to feel tight after a short time, or if you want to remain reachable while watching TV. Even when moving between the sofa and the kitchen, the sound stays with you without a cable getting in the way.  <\/p>\n      <p>The neck speaker is less suitable if someone is sleeping or reading in the same room, or if two people want to watch TV at the same time.<\/p>\n    <\/section>\n\n    <section id=\"sprachverstaendlichkeit\">\n      <h2 id=\"h2-sprachverstaendlichkeit\">When it Comes to Dialogue<\/h2>\n      <p>Proximity alone does not automatically make speech clearer. A neck speaker shortens the path to the ear and thus reduces the influence of reverberation and room noise, but it does not change the sound mix of the film. If dialogue remains unclear despite the short distance, it is usually due to the ratio of speech to music and effects.  <\/p>\n      <p>For this case, there are devices that additionally intervene in the signal and emphasize the range of the human voice.
